TAIPED approved the plan and the contract was signed

The “green light” for the start of the tendering procedures and subsequent implementation of an emblematic project for the coastal front of Attica, the construction of a single bicycle-pedestrian path from Kallithea to Voula“turned on” today after the signing of the relevant cooperation agreement by the regional governor of Attica Giorgos Patoulis and the mandated advisor of TAIPED Panagiotis Stampoulidis.

The project, which has secured financing as it is already included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with a budget of 24.7 million euros, will be auctioned by the TAIPED and will be built by the region of Attica.

In particular, the object of the project “Athenian Riviera – Urban Promenade” concerns the first part of the “Athenian Riviera” and in particular the consolidation of the urban coastline of the prefecture of Attica, through a single pedestrian-cycle path network that extends from the municipality of Kallithea to its town hall municipality of Vari- Voulas- Vouliagmeni, crossing six municipalities (Kallithea, P. Faliro, Alimos, Ellinikou- Argyroupoli, Glyfada, Vari- Voulas- Vouliagmeni). The estimated total length is 13.5 kilometers.

The goal of the project, which is expected to be delivered at the end of 2025, is the creation of an upgraded free public space, dedicated to the pedestrians and cyclists of the entire basin of Attica. The intervention aims to improve the urban environment by upgrading the quality of urban space and attracting new functions of economic activities, having at the same time a positive impact on the natural environment of urban centers, creating new jobs and achieving significant energy savings that will lead to an economy low carbon emissions.

On the occasion of the signing of the contract, in his statements, the regional governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, pointed out the following: “Today is a very important day for our Attica. With the mandated advisor of TAIPED P. Stampoulidis, we signed a cooperation pact with which the foundations are laid for the implementation of an emblematic project in the Riviera of Attica, that of the construction of a single network of pedestrian-cycle paths, which will extend from Chef until Vouliagmeni.

A project which will be auctioned by the TAIPED with the implementation body of the region of Attica and with the contribution of the Ministry of Energy and Environment, the relevant municipalities as well as the ETAD, will contribute to the further upgrading of the coastal front of our Attica. If we even add the Faliriko Ormos regeneration projects implemented by the region, the regeneration in Elliniko and other projects with a strong development sign, then we can talk about a coastal front that changes radically and signals our will to move to the next day of development and prosperity in the wider region. I want to especially thank Mr. Stampoulidis for today’s signing of the contract, which is the result of a diligent effort and constructive cooperation between the worthy executives of the region and TAIPED. I also want to thank one by one our staff, our legal department and all those who have contributed to getting us to today, which is the beginning of the execution of the flagship project which has secured funding as it is part of the National Recovery Plan and Resilience “Greece 2.0″ and for which we will all contribute to its completion at a fast pace and with modern specifications. We’re moving forward.”

For his part, the mandated advisor of TAIPED Panagiotis Stamboulidis, said: “With the contract we are signing today with the region of Attica, we are laying the foundations for the implementation of an emblematic redevelopment project for the coastal front of Attica. TAIPED, a member company of the Superfund, undertakes, in cooperation with the region of Attica, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the municipalities of the region and the ETAD, to carry out all the necessary actions in order to mature and auction the single pedestrian street without interruption – cycle path that will cross most of the Athenian Riviera, from Kallithea to Voula. This is a project that is part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0″, which will significantly upgrade the quality of life of residents and visitors and will contribute to tackling climate change, promoting sustainable mobility.”
