Vaccination of children 5-11 years: The opening of the platform on December 10

The appointment platform for the vaccination of children aged 5-11 will open on December 10, as announced by the Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous during the Information on the National Vaccination Coverage Plan for COVID-19

The first appointment, as he said, will be available from December 15, while from December 13 the vaccines will come to our country.

Vaccinations will be carried out in primary care facilities and hospitals and more vaccination centers will be gradually added.

In Attica the vaccinations will be carried out in 5 vaccination points:

• Children’s Hagia Sophia
• Pentelis Children
• Asclepieion of Voula
• “Agia Sofia” Health Center in Piraeus
• Peristeri Health Center

Detailed instructions will be published on the website emvolio.gov.gr on Friday, added Mr. Themistokleous.

It is noted that children will be vaccinated exclusively with Pfizer, after the approval received from the EMA, while the administration will be with 1/3 of the normal dose received by adults.

Course of vaccinations

The 15,040,000 vaccinations were exceeded today. More than 7,153,000 citizens have been vaccinated with one dose, ie 68.1% of the general population and 77.8% of the adult population. The corresponding average in the EU is 71% of the general population and 82.2% of the adult population.

More than 6,700,000 citizens have completed their vaccination, ie 63.8% of the general population and 73.2% of the adult population. The corresponding average in the EU is 67.5% of the general population and 77.4% of the adult population.

Mr. Themistokleous stated that since the announcement of the obligation for those over 60, more than 60,000 first installment appointments have been closed.

So far, 34,500 citizens have applied for the home vaccination program and 25,400 citizens have been vaccinated, mainly from mobile units of the Health Centers.

Regarding private doctors, Mr. Themistokleous said that 296 have joined the program, as well as 26 polyclinics and so far more than 12,630 vaccinations have been performed, of which 5,238 in clinics and 7,392 vaccinations at home.

Information on the booster dose

The beneficiaries of the booster dose are 5,730,960, a percentage of 85.7%, on the completed vaccinations. 1,710,000 vaccinations have been performed, 30% of the beneficiaries and 1,282,000 citizens have scheduled their appointment, 22.4%. According to Mr. Themistokleous, 73.5% of those over 60 have been vaccinated or made an appointment, while 37.3% have been vaccinated under 60.

For the age group 85 and over, 72% have been vaccinated or have an appointment. In the age group, 80-84, 80%, 75-79, 82%, 70-74, 76%, 65-69, 69.4% and 60-64, 66.7 %.

Mr. Themistocleous stated that more than 650,000 appointments have been made for the third installment.
