Yes, the milkshake has a day all to itself, the 12th of September. Although it is more consumed as a dessert or even as an accompaniment to hamburgers and fries, it is possible to celebrate the date, this Monday, in a less classic way and sticking your foot in the jackfruit in São Paulo.
Taste of Europe Crepes, on Rua Augusta, offers what they call the biggest milkshake in São Paulo. The version has three liters, being two and a half liters of ice cream and half a kilo of whipped cream.
In the wave of giant foods that are successful in the city, the family-sized milkshakes are sold in the flavors of Brigadeiro, Laka and Oreo and Paçoquita, in a huge glass. But think about it and gather your friends before you go — not only because of the size of the drink, but also because of the price: it goes from R$110 to R$125.
In order not to weigh on your pocket and stomach, the ideal is for a group of six people to split the bill and the cup. But there is a catch. The environment is small and cramped for groups of friends.
The address opened its doors in December last year. Before that, it was only for delivery. The idea for the family-sized milkshake came about casually about a month ago. “We went looking for a container that was interesting, big, we tested it and saw that it would be cool. We researched and saw that in São Paulo there is no place that sells a giant milkshake”, says Renata Tomaz, who is in front of the space next to Croatian chef Andy Urem.
The space is also favorable to register the moment and post a photo on social networks. There are cute and cozy armchairs that take over the place, paintings and other objects designed to appear in photos. But, as the glass is large, it is very likely that you will not enjoy the coziness, as you will have to stand up to get the drink.
As for the food, the highlights, as the name implies, are the crepes. They are made by the chef from a recipe by his grandmother, who lives in a town called Fazana, Croatia. With sweet and savory flavors, they range from R$33 to R$45.
As for the milkshakes, there are also more natural sizes, with prices ranging from R$29 to R$31. One of the options is Magic Ovaltine, the house’s best seller. The flavors resemble a three-liter, including just one with strawberry ice cream and Nutella.
For those who decide to face the giant version, a sign on one of the walls says “believe it happens”. It’s to encourage those who are about to give up on taking the three liters.
