Bibilas for Filippidis: He told me “let him not talk” – Find the strength to apologize to the girls

“He was calling me to find out if there were any other complaints against him, after the first three named complaints were made,” said the president of the Greek Actors’ Union Spyros Bibilas where testifies before the Joint Jury at the trial of his colleague, Petrou Filippidis.

Starting his testimony, which is being held in a room full of people, Mr. Bibilas emphasized that he is under a great emotional strain due to the many years of friendship that connected him with the accused, while he urged Petros Filippidis to apologize: “Please Petros, if he has the strength to stand up and say sorry to these girls,” the witness said.

Referring to the reactions of both the accused and his wife after the complaints that were made, the president of the Greek Actors said: “I have a great love for this man and I do not hide it, but what I learned later disappointed me greatly and affected the love I had for Petros and for Hope”.

The witness testified about the relationship he had with the first complainant, whose mother was his close friend. “I’ve known her since I was a child. Her mother and I are friends as long as I was with Petros. We bonded with a great love until today and I used to go to her house regularly. They had no problems with her partner. I met the mother of the first complainant, Petros. In 2003 or 2004 I went to Petros and told him to meet a friend of mine (the complainant) but I warned him “be careful not to fall for her”. She had this tendency to gossip unfortunately… After they met he told her to come again with her partner, a well-known singer… In 2010 her mother and Elpida Ninou coincidentally came to the same show and Elpida told us that she wanted to talk to us . In the car she told us something incredible: that the complainant is bothering Petros, that she has a relationship with him… She surprised me… I asked her how she knew this and she told me that she had seen her messages.”

President: In 2010 did Elpida Ninou tell you that the complainant was sending messages to her husband?

Witness: All these years I had understood that they were monitoring each other’s cell phones. And I said to her is it possible? Because you know he sticks to girls. And why didn’t Petros take her mother straight away if she’s bothered? If Petros wasn’t all right – and that’s why I’m so upset – he should take her mother to tell her that your daughter is sexually pressuring me. The opposite happened. Nothing happened. I can’t remember exactly what was said. I remember the word “penetration” […] that Hope was blaming the child and I was telling her that “you know him, how is it possible to believe that?”. I guess the little girl didn’t say it because she was afraid.

President: This woman reported two incidents of rape in 2008. How do you judge that in 2010 he says that he sees him as a father?

Mr. Bibilas testified that the accused very often had a relationship with one of “the girls in every show”, adding that “Hope knew or was trying to find out who she was. I didn’t need anyone to tell me. He had it as a normal thing in his life that he himself had relationships with many women.”
