After 160 checks, policemen of the Heraklion Police Department arrested 19 people in areas of the municipality of Hersonissos.
According to the police, the purpose of the operations was and is the prevention of traffic accidents, the suppression of crime, but also the consolidation of citizens’ sense of security.
The raid covered the entire range of police powers and included checks on people, cars and places, as well as confirmation of violations and arrests-confiscations in the current case.
Regarding the results of the operations, according to the police, a total of 160 people and 90 vehicles were checked, 17 violations of the Road Traffic Code and 19 more violations were confirmed. Of the 19 arrests that were made, five were related to people for depriving a driver’s license, six arrests for agitating customers, four for disturbing the peace and four more arrests for depriving a health certificate and street trading without a license.
Similar operational actions, which have as their main characteristics the increased police presence and the carrying out of targeted controls, will continue as pointed out by the police, in all regions of the Region of Crete.
