Appointments for the personal doctor begin on October 1st

On October 1st the appointment system for the personal doctor will be put into operation. The Ministry of Health issued a directive regarding the obligation of personal doctors contracted with EOPYY to schedule their appointments.

The first appointment will be twice as long (30 minutes), in order for the doctor to complete the citizen’s health file. Each personal physician must set his schedule of appointments according to the number of registered population he has at the given time. First appointment scheduling for all personal physicians should be completed by September 20th.

It is stated that it is an obligation of all personal physicians to contact registered citizens to complete their medical file, even if they do not come for an appointment. Appointments should be scheduled at the end of the month for the next two for each personal physician.

The circular mentions the following example: Suppose a personal doctor has 1,000 registered citizens. At the end of September, appointments should be scheduled for the months of October and November. Based on registered citizens, the specific personal physician should have 20 hours scheduled for appointments. At the end of October, a check should be made for any change in the number of registered personal doctors. In the event that on the last day of October the citizens registered with the particular doctor have reached 1,700, the personal doctor must allocate an additional 10 hours for November, while December must be planned based on the new number.

The appointments that will be scheduled should last 15 minutes each, while for citizens planning a visit for the first time, the duration of the appointment will be 30 minutes, as it is necessary to complete the individual health file of each citizen.

By any chance scheduled appointments of citizens to contracted family doctors who are now included in the institution of personal doctor remain unchanged.
