Beyond its natural advantages, Greece seems to be reaping the benefits of good management of the health crisis, comments the report

Another article, this time from the French Les Echos, praises the performance of tourism in Greece.

In the article titled, “Hellas and Spain, the successes of the summer for French travel agents” the journalist Yann Duvert points out that this summer the French preferred Greece and Spain for their holidays.

It is noteworthy that the columnist and the interviewees attribute Greece’s success to the right crisis management policies and strategies, such as the pandemic.

Beyond its natural advantages, Greece seems to be reaping the benefits of good management of the health crisis, comments the report.

“Greece has a very good image because it is a very integrated destination from a cultural, gastronomic, natural and seaside point of view,” says Christophe Fuss, deputy managing director of TUI France.

“It should also be noted that the Greek government managed the Covid crisis very well, reassuring French customers very quickly. Greece quickly appeared to be a “safe” destination. “All these factors contribute to making it the favorite destination of our customers again this summer.”

More specifically, according to the statement of the Association of Travel Agents (SETO), tourists who chose a “package” trip (flight, accommodation, excursions) rushed to Greece and Spain, which are already popular in 2021.

From May 1 to August 31, French travel agents took almost 1.4 million people on trips, including 279,000 to Greece. More specifically, in the Greek islands there was an increase of 47% compared to last year, while in mainland Greece an increase of 84% was recorded. Even compared to the pre-Covid period, the trend is upward.

According to Travel Companies, which collects data from tour operators and travel agencies, the destination Greece saw a 30% jump compared to 2019, while Spain saw a 56% increase. At NG Travel there was also an explosion in departures to Spain (90%) and Greece (110%).
