The trial for the murder of the 49-year-old in Evosmos begins – In the chair his estranged wife and his daughter

The 46-year-old and her 19-year-old daughter are being tried today in the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki, who are accused of the brutal murder of the 49-year-old estranged husband of the first and the father of the second.

The family tragedy was revealed in June 2020 in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, with the daughter claiming during her testimony to the police that she committed the act because the victim had been sexually abusing her since the age of 14.

The two women will sit in the seat of the Criminal Court accused of jointly committed intentional homicide in a calm state of mind. The maximum period of 18 months of their temporary detention expires in seven days. The 46-year-old is being held all this time in the Korydallos Women’s Prison, and the 19-year-old in the Eleona Women’s Prison in Thebes.

According to the referral panel of the competent Judicial Council, the 49-year-old taxi driver was found lying on the bed of his room by his son. According to the forensic findings, he suffered 17 fatal stab wounds to the neck and another four to the face, while his death was instantaneous. The knife with which the crime was committed was found in a sewer well on Papanastasiou Street, on the other side of Thessaloniki, where it had been thrown by the 19-year-old, who pointed to the specific point.

Apologizing to the Investigator, the 46-year-old admitted that she was merely an accomplice in the murder, citing on the one hand what her daughter allegedly revealed about the rape (with the most recent incident three days before the crime), and on the other hand abusive behavior, which according to she had allegedly suffered in the past from her ex-husband (she was estranged but returned to the family home at the victim’s urging). She also cited serious health problems and medication, the side effects of which prevented her from committing the crime.

For her part, her daughter initially accepted the acts attributed to her (she is also prosecuted for illegal possession and use of weapons), describing the nightmare she allegedly experienced. But then, three months later, in a supplementary apology, she changed her attitude radically, stating that she did not kill her father, but her mother, and that she was never raped or abused by the victim.

“These are all scams and tricks of my mother, who presented him as a ‘monster’, hated him to death, studied ways to kill him …”, he seems to have said. According to the same apology, she also said that the 46-year-old asked her to “take it upon herself” because the judges will feel sorry for her because she is small even if they say that he abused her “, as well as that her mother” is manipulative and that in her prison sends instructions not to change her testimony “.

However, the specific allegations were rejected as unfounded and with a specific prosecutorial reasoning in the parliament, with which they were referred to trial, it is stated: “… they discussed and agreed on the killing of the father and the husband respectively. “The daughter took the knife without leaving any room for resistance to the victim (who was sleeping at the time), inflicting successive blows and stopped when it was confirmed that he was dead.”
