A significant quantity of alcoholic beverages was seized by its inspectors Independent Public Revenue Authority.

These are three containers, which contained 43,200 bottles of one liter CAMPARI BITTER and one container, with 18,360 bottles of 700ml BOTKA BELVEDERE, which were located at the 3rd Customs of Piraeus.

Through the special risk analysis algorithm, the inspectors selected for inspection the specific cargoes, with declared content, “BEVERAGES”, which came from Georgia and their destination was Greece.

In part of the shipment with CAMPARI BITTER, the inspectors noticed that the lot marking (LOT. NO.) had been carefully removed from the bottles, mechanically, and differences were observed on the back label of the bottles compared to the original ones. It is noted that the reporting of the production lot is required by the observance of international food safety rules and is mandatory for the protection of the consumer.

In the container with BOTKA BELVEDERE, the inspectors took samples, which were examined, both by the owner of the BELVEDERE trademark, and by the State General Chemistry, who ruled on the falsified nature of the bottles’ packaging, as well as their contents.
