Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Holy Synod of the Church of Greece next Monday. In fact, this is the first time that a prime minister participates in a meeting of the BIC. The interest for the presence of Mr. Mitsotakis at the Synodical Palace is increasing, as it takes place at a critical juncture when a larger attendance of believers in the temples is expected in view of Christmas.
The focus will be on the need for reverent observance of the measures against the spread of the coronavirus but also their faithful surveillance, both by the Church and the state, something that Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to emphasize. The aim is to send a common message with the Church for the implementation of all health protocols and the demonstration of rapid tests by the unvaccinated, in the temples. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Minister of Education Niki Kerameos, as issues of state – Church of Greece will be on the table, with the Church, according to information, to make its permanent request for the establishment of additional 4,000 organic clergy positions to rise to a total types in 10,000.
Besides, at 09.30, tomorrow Friday, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet at the Maximos Palace with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Mr. Ieronymos.
