If until a few years ago they were a restricted circuit, with few options in São Paulo, vegan restaurants are multiplying in the capital of São Paulo since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The options abuse adaptations without products of animal origin, with pastries, hamburgers, barbecue — with vegetables or vegetable protein — and even vegan Northeastern food.
Check out ten new vegan places that have opened in São Paulo in recent years, where you can try an adapted São Paulo-style virado, pizza without cheese, pasta or a good pê-efe.
The Vegan Owl
Opened in March last year, the restaurant specializes in meatless barbecue. The carvery costs R$130 per person and has options such as “vegetable chicken” and “bean kafta” skewers. Other dish options, such as the virado à paulista or baião de dois, are adapted with seitan (a vegetable protein) and tofu and served à la carte.

grain of Affection
Using the principles of ayurveda, an Indian technique that preaches a healthy life, in the preparation of dishes, the address prioritizes natural and fresh ingredients. Open in 2020, the place has a daily menu, with dishes like shimeji feijoada and cassava gnocchi with lentils, which cost R$39.

Let’s Vegan
Founded by two cousins last year, Let’s Vegan offers a variety of plant-based and vegan burgers. Among the options, it offers recipes with peas, chickpeas and soy protein. The house also serves lunches with eggplant parmigiana, made with “vegetable cheese”.

Peace Burger
The colorful and instagrammable burgers are the hallmark of the place. The physical unit was opened two years ago and its menu has everything made with vegetables. Those who pass by can still order fries with “cheddar” and “bacon”, without cheese and meat, of course.

Piccoli Cucina
With Italian and vegan cuisine, Piccoli Cucina does not use anything of animal origin in its pasta. There you can taste classic dishes such as fettuccine with white chestnut sauce, for R$88, and capeletti with “vegetable meat”, for R$92. The sweets, cannoli, cookies and cheesecakes don’t use milk either.

A totally vegan Northeastern restaurant, the space was opened in June 2020 with the proposal of adapting dishes from Northeastern cuisine, which usually include meat, to the vegan palate. The cashew moqueca costs R$72, while the tidy Pernambuco one, with jackfruit and cowpea, costs R$39.
