HEL.AS: Over 108,000 checks on drivers and vehicles and 23,883 violations in one week

The controls they continue based on the standing orders of its political and physical leadership Hellenic Police throughout the Greek territory.

Specifically, between October 9 and 15, 2022, they were carried out 108,518 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles and they were assured 23,883 violations.

In more detail, violations were confirmed by region, as follows:

• 4,272 in Attica,
• 2,791 in Thessaloniki,
• 2,418 in Thessaly,
• 2,412 in Western Greece,
• 2,141 in Central Macedonia,
• 1,963 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,
• 1,927 in Crete,
• 1,511 in Epirus,
• 1,280 in the Peloponnese,
• 977 in Central Greece,

• 694 in the Ionian Islands,
• 589 in the South Aegean,
• 461 in the North Aegean and
• 447 in Western Macedonia.
In particular, the violations confirmed concern:
• 7,845 for illegal parking,
• 4,988 for excessive speed,
• 1,360 for driving without a driver’s license,
• 1,252 for not using a protective helmet,
• 756 for not using a seat belt,
• 626 for K.T.E.O.,
• 407 for drunk driving,
• 388 for mobile phone use,
• 372 uninsured vehicles,
• 227 for traffic light violation,
• 199 for driving in the opposite traffic flow,
• 161 for irregular maneuvers,
• 126 non-observance of safety distance,
• 121 for worn tires,
• 114 for illegal overtaking,
• 59 for opposite traffic on a one-way street,
• 44 for driver distraction,
• 32 for improper use of lights,
• 24 for not using child seats,
• 16 for violation of priority,
• 5 for lack of seat belt and
• 4,761 other violations.

The Greek Police attaches particular importance to road safety issues and in this context the controls will continue with unabated intensity in order to reduce traffic accidents.

In addition, targeted actions and specialized traffic controls of the Attica Traffic Directorate were carried out on a daily basis throughout the week of October 10 to 16, 2022, in the area of ​​the coastal E.O. Athens-Souni, with the aim of dealing with improvised races, as well as other dangerous violations that lead to traffic accidents, disturb the safety of transportation and the smooth and safe movement of citizens.

A total of 716 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles were carried out and 408 violations were confirmed, for which the corresponding administrative fines were imposed.

In more detail, the violations confirmed were:

• 46 for excessive speed,
• 32 for not wearing a helmet,
• 21 for deprivation of driving license,
• 13 for not using a seat belt,
• 11 for violating a red light,
• 8 for driving under the influence of alcohol,
• 4 to demonstrate skills,
• 3 for mobile phone use and
• 270 for other violations

In addition, 50 pairs of license plates, 60 vehicle licenses, as well as 77 driving licenses were removed.

Finally, 9 vehicles were also transported.

Controls will continue with the same intensity in other areas of Attica, which show increased and dangerous delinquency.
