However, on the occasion of the unfortunate incident, the deputy mayor of Finance, Stelios Spanoudakis, informs his fellow citizens that at the end of the working hours, the daily revenues of the service are deposited in the bank where the municipality of Rethymno maintains an account.
An attempted burglary of the Financial Service of the Municipality of Rethymno, in ‘Adele, occurred in the early hours of Thursday, October 27.
According to the municipal authority, would-be burglars broke the window of the service’s cash register with a stone and tried unsuccessfully to break into the safe.
The alarm worked normally and the security company notified the Rethymno police, who are investigating the case.
As it was established from the audit carried out, the burglars probably aimed exclusively at the contents of the safe since they did not take any other logistical elements from the site.
However, on the occasion of the unfortunate incident, the deputy mayor of Finance, Stelios Spanoudakis, informs his fellow citizens that at the end of the working hours, the daily revenues of the service are deposited in the bank where the municipality of Rethymno maintains an account.
Therefore, the safe is empty, hoping as he also said, the sad incident will not be repeated.
