The residents of Agia Fotia cannot wrap their minds around the night’s tragedy
The local community of Crete is numb to the tragedy that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 30, at a hotel in Agia Fotia when a piece of rock detached and fell onto the roof of the fatal hotel, fatally crushing a 45-year-old woman originally from Slovenia and wounded her nine-year-old child in the leg.
According to neakriti.gr, the residents of Agia Fotia are unable to comprehend the night’s tragedy, claiming that a few minutes before the rock fell there was a deafening noise and then the fall occurred.
“If a large mass located at the site detaches and falls down the slope like on Saturday night, then the entire settlement is at risk,” the residents argue.
Residents argue that the deafening noise that was heard sounded like an earthquake and a few minutes later the rock that crushed the unfortunate woman “exploded” on the roof of the hotel.
According to information, the nine-year-old remains and is hospitalized, while his 51-year-old father returned to the hotel in order to find their passports in the ruins, with the help of the owners.
