Mitarakis: In the local community of Samos, the former KYT in Vathi

Mr. Mitarakis signed a financing of one million euros to the Municipality of Eastern Samos regarding the approval of his application for the financing of the cleaning and restoration works of the former KYT in Vathi

The declaratory decision approving financing from the Solidarity Fund in order to start the procedures for the return of the site of the former KYT in Vathi, Samos to the local community, was signed, today, by the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Noti Mitarakis.

In particular, Mr. Mitarakis signed a financing of one million euros to the Municipality of Eastern Samos, in the presence of the mayor of Eastern Samos, Giorgos Stantzou, regarding the approval of his application for the financing of the cleaning and restoration works of the former KYT in Vathi, but also of neighboring properties that have been encroached upon.

The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis said: “The government keeps its commitments towards the islanders and the Greek people. Thus, in continuation of the construction of the Closed Controlled Structure of Samos, which has cultivated the feeling of security now on the island, we are going one step further, implementing another promise of the New Democracy, with the financing to the Municipality of Eastern Samos for the restoration and development of area of ​​the former KYT in Vathi in order to be given to the citizens. The government responds with projects, we support in practice the inhabitants of the Acritic Islands and the local communities”.

The mayor of Eastern Samos, George Stanzos, made the following statement: “We express our satisfaction, because one of our biggest commitments as a municipal authority is implemented with coordinated efforts and of course through the cooperation of our Municipality and the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum. Today we are moving one step closer to the realization of our goal, which at the present stage is none other than the acquisition of title deeds for the 20-acre field so that the process of removing debris, clearing the area, and restoring it can follow and its delivery to the neighboring owners. Methodically and with unity, important steps are being completed for the good and progress of our country”.
