The incident was reported to the local police station, but according to police sources, no summons has been filed so far, nor has an ex officio investigation been initiated.

A confrontation between two Delasalle College students that began on Oct. 25 and escalated over the next few days escalated into a fight inside the high school’s courtyard, injuring one of the four other students involved when the altercation began.

The incident was reported to the local police station, but according to police sources, no summons has been filed so far, nor has an ex officio investigation been initiated.

The management of the school, in a statement it issued, on the occasion of the publication of “incorrect and incomplete information”, as it characterizes it, speaks of “an unprecedented incident of violence between high school students, the like of which has never happened in the 135 years of operation of the College DELASAL”, while informing that the four students who were involved in the incident by exercising physical violence were permanently expelled from the school.

The confrontation between the two students began, according to the announcement, “when they left the School on October 25, 2022” and “our teachers mediated, as they should, to defuse the situation.”

“Then, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, we were informed of incidents of cyberbullying that took place outside the school context and called the students involved and the mediator teachers on the same day, with the aim of immediately restoring the climate of peace. However, the two students, as a continuation of the previous incident, quarreled with each other in the courtyard of the Lyceum, and four others physically attacked one of the two, who was immediately given first aid by the school nurse.

The parents of the injured student were notified and they took him to the hospital for further tests,” the school says about the incident. He clarifies that “all the students involved in the incident were expelled, while the four students who used physical violence were expelled from the entire College as, based on the College’s Internal Operating Regulations, physical assault and abuse is unacceptable, from wherever comes from”.

The management of the school assures that there was an immediate mobilization for the management and relief of the situation, “talking with the students of the High School departments, so that they understand the very serious consequences of similar incidents”, while talks were organized with the School’s mental health counselors, informed the parents of the students involved and a new information session has been planned for the parents and students of the Lyceum.

“Each incident of violence within the school context injures not only the victim himself, but also classmates, teachers and administration. Given the faithful observance of the regulation in every incident of violence, we are working so that tomorrow – and every day – in the classroom is peaceful, and we set as a key priority the monitoring of all those involved by specialists, who will help in their smooth recovery in the school environment”, says the school management.
