What the Paralympic champion said about the harassment from the Turks while fulfilling his goal
Paralympian Charalambos Taiganidis shared his experience of fulfilling his wish, but also of being harassed by the Turkish beach while he was swimming, speaking today on the SKAI show “Oi Dekatianoi”.
As he said, at 18 miles when he stopped to rest, he noticed the appearance of the Turkish boat, which was watching them. “At first I didn’t understand what was happening, I was surprised,” he said characteristically adding that at the same time he was worried as they did not know the intentions of the Turks. “They continued to follow us, entering our territorial waters, but they did not proceed with any other movement” added Taiganidis
The Paralympian, he said, wanted to fulfill his ambition by swimming 25 miles and delivering himself the gold medal which he conquered in Mexico, Archangel Michael of Symi.
The Paralympic swimming champion started his journey to Symi shortly after 7 am, while by his side were the president of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, Giorgos Kapellakis and the gold medalist Pyrros Dimas.
