Circuit of illegal prescriptions: The 13 arrested are released on bail

by

After their apology to the 2nd Special Investigator of Thessaloniki, the 13 arrested for the case of the circuit which allegedly bribed doctors to prescribe drugs of specific companies, were released on restrictive terms and bail, from 5 to 50 thousand euros.

These are executives and medical visitors of a pharmaceutical company, based in Athens, but also an owner of a medical center, who had been arrested after many months of investigation by the Internal Affairs Service of the Security Forces of the Hellenic Police. The case file includes 173 people, among them dozens of doctors who serve in public health structures and in the private sector, pharmacists, medical visitors, an elected representative of the Local Government, etc.

As described, among other things, in the case file, the circuit had developed a nationwide action, trafficking in many cases by bus, tens of thousands of euros in parcels to be delivered to collaborating doctors who illegally prescribed AMKA to unsuspecting patients.

In the apologies, some of the accused medical visitors allegedly accepted part of the indictment, but stated that they were carrying out orders. On the other hand, one of the main allegations of the accused executives was that it was not about financing but about expenses that were part of the company’s promotional policy.

The decision on their criminal treatment was taken after the consent of the Investigator and the Prosecutor.

And fake vaccination certificates

Meanwhile, the same investigation of the “incorruptibles” of ELAS revealed, in addition, cases of sham vaccinations, sale of fake disease certificates and negative rapid tests, focusing on the Prefecture of Messinia. The persons involved are a medical visitor, two doctors, a nurse, a pharmacist and another individual. The “tariff”, depending on the case and the type of facility, ranged from 50 to 700 euros.

For this part, the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki decided to separate the case file and forwarded it to the Prosecutor’s Office of Kalamata.
