A gymnast at a high school in Thessaloniki was convicted by the Second Three-member Criminal Court to a total imprisonment of 17 monthswith a three-year suspension, as it was judged guilty of serial and continuing child abuse.
The indictment included four cases of his female studentsin which – according to the case file – “he made gestures and proposals of a sexual nature”, between October 2020 and June of the following year.
The Court did not accept the request of the defense to examine the victims. However, their parents testified as witnesses, who referred to what the children revealed to them. “My daughter felt insulted and did not feel comfortable,” said the mother of one of the students, referring to her child’s complaints that she was molested by the accused, while in another case he had left sexual insinuations.
In his statement, the 58-year-old accused professor denied what is attributed to him, referring to a “misunderstanding”. He was recognized with the mitigating factor of previous honest life, while he appealed against the decision and was released.
It should be noted that a high school teacher in Thessaloniki is also accused of similar acts, whose trial began in the previous weeks and was adjourned until next month.
