Chainsaw attack on a municipal employee in Volos: The description of the woman is shocking

In shocking detail and intensity, the municipal employee who was attacked by a citizen with a chainsaw described the nightmarish moments she experienced in Bullet.

“I was crouching down when I heard my colleagues shouting: Watch out, watch out, behind you. What is behind me I think? Oh my god, what are they saying? As I stand up, as I turn towards them I see this man, coming towards me holding the lawnmower, while I was holding the chainsaw in my hands. What are you doing; I dared to ask. Then, he threw the lawn mower and grabbed my hands. He started pointing the chainsaw at me. How God enlightened me at that time, I turned off the switch”.

The above words belong to the employee of the Green Sector of the Municipality of Volos, who experienced the horror of the threat, without knowing how and why, without having any precedent or argument or conversation with the perpetrator.

The 50-year-old mother of two children was literally not injured or had a dramatic accident, due to her calm attitude and her correct assessment of how she treated the approximately 40-year-old perpetrator who was beside himself, and while he was speaking his words were incomprehensible. “I tried to understand what had happened and what had bothered him. I thought he was rather disturbed by the noise made by the lawnmower and the chainsaw, and to buy time I addressed him saying: “Don’t you want to cut the grass? We will not cut them”

The patient, in front of the surprised eyes of her colleagues and the neighborhood who heard the voices, started to run, where a neighbor opened the front door of her single-family house, the frightened worker entered and the two women locked themselves in the yard and notified the Police. A short time later and while the perpetrator eventually threw the chainsaw down, he was still in the area, babbling and cursing, hurling about and smashing gardening equipment.

Και όπως το αφήνω τι στιγμή που το έκλεισα, το παίρνει πάει να το πετάξει πάνω μου, παραμερίζω, πέφτει κάτω, παίρνει τη μηχανή με μια μανία, ήθελε να μου κάνει κακό. Να μην ξέρει τι να πρώτο κάνει για να το πετάξει επάνω μου. Έπαιρνε το χορτοκοπτικό που ήταν κάτω πάει να μου το πετάξει, το έκανε κομμάτια, έπαιρνε το αλυσοπρίονο και του λέω σε παρακαλώ για να κερδίσω λίγο χρόνο, να κάνω λίγο όπισθεν. Σε παρακαλώ του λέω εντάξει δεν θέλεις, σου αρέσουν τα χόρτα, τον έβλεπα ότι ήταν άνθρωπος θολωμένος, αδίστακτος, δεν υπάκουγε πουθενά και σε τίποτα, ήταν αλλού. Του λέω σε παρακαλώ ξέρω σου αρέσουν τα χόρτα δεν θέλεις, δεν καταλάβαινε, έβριζε και πάω να φύγω, πετάει πάλι το αλυσοπρίονο κάτω.  Μια κυρία που ήταν εκεί μου λέει έλα σε παρακαλώ πολύ πήγαινε μέσα στο σπίτι μου. Και πάνω στην προσπάθεια, αυτός έτρεχε από πίσω μου για να πάρει τη μεσινέζα και πρόλαβα και κρύφτηκα μέσα στο σπίτι και μετά επειδή χάθηκα εκεί ανεβοκατέβαινε και μου λέει η άλλη η συνάδελφος εκεί που με φώναξε μου λέει πήρε τη βενζίνη, το μπουκάλι που χρησιμοποιούσαμε και έπινε.  Και κάπου μετά πήγε χώθηκε εκεί στο πάρκο που ήρθαν και τον είδαν η ομάδα ΔΙΑΣ 2 μοτοσικλετιστές και τον είδαν που ήταν ξαπλωμένος εκεί. Αυτός είναι γνωστός. Πέφτει στη μέση του δρόμου. Περνάνε τα αυτοκίνητα από δίπλα του.  Ακούγονται πολλά για αυτόν. Σαν φυσιογνωμία είναι γνωστή γιατί εμείς περνάμε από αυτή την περιοχή και τον βλέπουμε που κυκλοφορεί στο δρόμο. Πραγματικά είναι επικίνδυνος. Τι να κάνουμε εμείς. Τον βάζουν μέσα στην ψυχιατρική, τον βγάζει η ψυχιατρική έξω. Δεν μπορεί να είναι ελεύθερος, με την ευλογία και της δικαιοσύνης. Εμείς τι πρέπει να νοιώθουμε αυτή τη στιγμή. Πρέπει να νοιώθουμε φόβο που πάμε να κάνουμε το καθήκον μας ή όταν περπατάμε σε ένα πάρκο σαν πολίτες, να φοβόμαστε την επίθεση από κάποιον και να είμαστε εκτεθειμένοι σε παραβατικές συμπεριφορές ανθρώπων, που εν τέλει μπορεί να στοιχίσουν και την ζωή μας; Οι άνθρωποι αυτοί  έχουν κάνει συνήθειο το δρομολόγιο Δικαιοσύνη- Φυλακή- Ψυχιατρική Κλινική, ελεύθεροι. Τι μένει να κάνει ο πολίτης; Γιατί σε αυτή την κατηγορία ανήκω και εγώ. Απλά έτυχε  εκείνη την ώρα να δουλεύω. Και απ’ότι είπαν και εκεί οι γείτονες, ηλικιωμένοι άνθρωποι, έπαθαν σοκ βλέποντας τι πέρασα εγώ και σκεπτόμενοι ότι θα μπορούσε να συμβεί και στους ίδιους και τα εγγόνια τους.

Χθες πήγε να γίνει το αυτόφωρο, είπε ότι έχει δικηγόρο. Ζήτησε και του δώσανε την νόμιμη προθεσμία για να απολογηθεί. Ο κ. Εισαγγελέας που είπε να βρίσκομαι στις 12.30 στα δικαστήρια αύριο Δευτέρα 5 Δεκεμβρίου. Εκεί μάλλον θα γίνει η δίκη…]

She tells us that she was not afraid of him and that he had shown no signs of violent behavior. But this time, as Mrs. X said, “she was beside herself. He was a beast. Now I’m very scared,” she declared on the microphone, but refused to be photographed or appear with her face on camera.

According to another testimony, during the episode the perpetrator drank the gasoline contained in the gardening tools (chainsaw, lawnmower) and then ran “like a madman”. In the meantime, the men of the DIAS Team of the Magnesia Police Department arrived, arrested him and took him to the Police Department where he remains in custody until tomorrow when he will be taken to the Prosecutor and Investigator for his apology.

This incredible adventure of the worker became known after a complaint by the trade union group DAS-OTA, which requests that protection measures be taken for workers in the sensitive work sectors such as Green or Cleaning. Two colleagues of the victim and elected members of the DAS- OTA of Magnesia, Lily Vlachopoulou and Konstantinos Angelakis, asked for immediate protection measures, stressing that the citizens have been particularly aggressive lately and often curse and intimidate the workers in the field of Cleanliness and Greenery , a fact that should definitely activate and concern the municipal authority. Regarding the incredible incident that happened to their colleague, they estimated that “by pure luck we did not have an accident. She saw the grace with her own eyes.
