The 56-year-old man accused of killing his 55-year-old ex-wife by shooting her with a shotgun inside a patisserie in Nea Madyto, Thessaloniki, was sentenced to probation after apologizing to the 4th Regular Investigator in Thessaloniki.
“I was blinded by jealousy” he reportedly apologized, accepting his act. He reportedly said that his ex-wife cheated on him while he was together and that he could not bear to be away from her after her divorce four to five years ago. With the consent of the Investigator and the Prosecutor, he was temporarily detained and made his way to prison.
He had been prosecuted for manslaughter, illegal possession of weapons and use of weapons.
The crime was committed last Monday morning, when the unfortunate 55-year-old was going to buy bread. The confessed murderer seems to have shot her by shooting her in the back. The victim was first transported to the local Health Center and then to the Hippocratic Hospital where he succumbed to severe injuries.
Initially, there were testimonies, according to which the person who carried the weapon looked like a woman. However, it seems that the long coat and the hood that the 56-year-old wore, in combination with his thin body type, misled the witnesses. As the authorities’ investigations progressed, the scenario of a woman-perpetrator was overturned.
