by

The extensive damage caused by unknown persons was repaired, last Tuesday, at the 102nd Primary School of Athens. The school, which reopened, was visited today by the mayor of Athens, Costas Bakogiannis, who talked to young students in the classrooms, while he had an extensive discussion with the school principal and a representative of the Parents and Guardians Association.

Mr. Bakoyannis pointed out that although “within a short time the damage was repaired, the school opened its doors normally, the students returned to the classrooms, the imprint of the vandalism remains strong”. “Schools are ‘social property’ and we all have to protect them. We must all be “educated” from the beginning in respecting public space and the money of taxpayers. As a municipal authority we will strengthen the efforts to guard and safeguard the public space. “But we need everyone’s help,” said the mayor.

According to a relevant announcement of the Municipality, the iron classroom doors were repaired, among others, broken window panes were replaced, doors, frames, walls, etc. were repainted from the beginning. The school also received six new computers and six projectors with fabric projection screens, a large photocopier, two refrigerators, fire extinguishers, etc.
