Regarding the festive season, Mr. Kikilias pointed out that the occupancy rates will be very high in the winter/mountain destinations,

“Tourism takes credit from Greek society” said the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias in an interview he gave.

As he said, the lengthening of the tourist season, the attraction of quality travelers, the increase in flights as well as capacity, the promotion of alternative destinations and the success of the “Tourism for All” program resulted in travel revenues exceeding last year’s budget target by 3 billion euros, strengthening all sectors – from the primary sector to small and medium enterprises – and supporting the economy, Greek society and the average Greek family.

Mr. Kikilias, speaking to Action24, emphasized that all this was the result of hard work and a specific strategic plan in a year with many adversities. “In 2023 we will be tested again, but, like last year, we are working very hard from the winter to have a very good season, while at the same time supporting the winter destinations” said the Minister of Tourism and added: “The Greeks see how much this government is trying , they see that we gave 44 billion during the pandemic to keep society, the economy and all its sectors standing. Now we have already exceeded 10 billion to support society due to the energy crisis, and the surplus brought by tourism contributed maximum in it. Citizens now have experience of very difficult situations and multiple crises, so they will decide soberly and wisely who they want to lead them in the next four years.”

Finally, regarding the festive period, Mr. Kikilias pointed out that the occupancy rates will be very high in the winter/mountain destinations, which will also increase after mid-January, when 125,000 intangible digital cards of the “Tourism for All” program will be drawn. .
