The members of the journalistic institution “Car of the Year for Greece”, gathered at the Autokinodromio of Megara, on December 5, 2022, where they once again drove all 10 candidate new models of the final phase: Alfa Romeo Tonale, BMW X1, Dacia Jogger , DS 4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia Sportage, Opel Astra, Peugeot 308, Skoda Fabia, Toyota Yaris Cross.
The journalists – members of the Car of the Year for Greece discussed with each other, exchanged opinions, saw again the details of this year’s top-10 cars, studied technical data, specifications and equipment, confirmed on the spot – once again – the possibilities them, and they evaluated them based – mainly – on the needs and priorities of the average driver, because above all it is to him that they address themselves when they write or speak in the media they work for. It was a first-class opportunity to make direct comparisons, to see things on equal terms as much as possible, to connect the past with the present and the future of motoring.

Thus, this year’s final ten candidates for the title of Car of the Year for Greece include a fully electric model (the Hyundai IONIQ), while in the same list we find three more models with internal combustion engines which are or will soon be available and in plug in hybrid and fully electric versions. Another two are also available as plug in hybrids. However, it is true that the lion’s share of the Greek market belongs, and will belong for several years to come, to vehicles that have an internal combustion engine as their main power source.
Note that the ten models of the final phase that were selected from a total of 19 new models that were launched, this year, on the Greek market are the following:
We remind you that since the establishment of the “Car of the Year for Greece” institution in 2006, the title has been won by the following models until today:
The Car of the Year for Greece would like to especially thank Mr. Christos Anastasiadis for kindly, as always, providing the space at the Megara Raceway for the final tests.
The voting for the selection of the “Car of 2023” and the awarding of the title will take place next Monday, December 12, 2021 at Domotel Kastri.
