Ford has built the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E and now offers its electric vehicle in 37 countries around the world, with plans to add more markets next year

Ford has built the 150,000th Mustang Mach-E since production began nearly two years ago, a major milestone as the company ramps up production of electric vehicles to 600,000 units annually by the end of 2023 and over 2,000,000 per year until 2026.

Mustang Mach-E sales to date have been led by customers switching from an internal combustion engine vehicle to an electric one – more than 8 in 10 customers in the US and 9 in 10 in Europe – demonstrating that Ford is creating EVs that appeal more broadly customer needs.

“When we put the famous pony on this Mustang, we knew it would be viewed with skepticism by many. What we didn’t know at the time was just how popular this car would become,” said Darren Palmer, vice president, Electric Vehicle Programs, Ford Model e. “I love seeing Mustang Mach-Es on the road and talking to customers, and I’m seeing more and more of them.”

The Mustang Mach-E is available in 37 countries worldwide for 2023, up from 22 in its first year of launch. New Zealand, Brazil and Argentina are among the latest markets added to the Mustang Mach-E’s sales force. The model’s global sales increase comes as Ford continues to upgrade its plant in Cuautitlán, Mexico – which built the 150,000th vehicle – to support even more customers.

“The factory is full of life,” said Deborah Manzano, Ford’s director of manufacturing. “There’s a new battery line, a new chassis line, an additional assembly line – we’re literally running out of space to build more Mustang Mach-Es. We also recently added a new paint shop. Nothing stands still for long!”

The Mustang Mach-E continues to prove its popularity by winning awards and accolades such as the 2021 North American Utility of the Year, Edmunds Top-Rated Luxury Electric Vehicle and more.
