Three smugglers who were promoting inside the country, on three different occasions, a total of 18 illegal immigrants were arrested yesterday and today in the areas of Rodopi and Evros, by police officers from the Rodopi and Alexandroupoli Police Departments.
Specifically, today in the early hours of the morning on a rural road near the settlement of Itea Evros, police officers of the Border Guard Department of Feron arrested a citizen, who illegally transported seven illegal immigrants inland with an ICHE car. In addition, the police investigation found that the car was reported embezzled on 6-12-2022 to the Attica police department.
Also yesterday morning on the Ardani – Ormeni National Highway (at the junction of Dadia Evros), police officers of the Special Operations Intervention Group of the Alexandroupoli Police Department arrested a foreigner because they spotted him driving an ICHE car without a driver’s license and illegally transporting inland four illegal immigrants.
Yesterday afternoon in Komotini, police officers of the Sapon Border Guard Department arrested a foreigner, because they spotted him driving an ICHE car with which he was transporting seven illegal immigrants inland. According to the Police Authorities, the driver – trafficker, who did not have a driver’s license, did not comply with a police stop sign on Egnatia Odos and continued on his way, developing speed and making dangerous maneuvers. Finally, the vehicle moved towards the city of Komotini, where it stopped after hitting protective bars, without being injured, while the perpetrator then tried to escape on foot, but without succeeding.
