“The digital shopping card will generally concern the purchase of products,” the Minister of Rural Development and Food Giorgos Georgantas said to SKAI and on the program “Kalimera” with Giorgos Autias.
Mr. Georgantas pointed out that “the beneficiaries of this measure are 3.1 million households or 8.5 million persons”.
“The most important thing is that the money with which we will help the households is money that does not come from the taxation of ordinary citizens but from overtaxation that will be done to the profits of companies. In this way, the inflation in the specific products is absorbed”, added the Minister of Rural Development and Food, noting: “A family of four, a couple with two children essentially needs to spend 520 euros per month on food purchases. There will be the 10% that will be paid for a semester.”
Asked if the digital card will include products from the public market, Mr. Georgantas noted that “it could also be the public markets because there is a food market there and there is a cash register, but let’s wait for the relevant ministers to analyze it.” In the general characteristics of the measure, it is planned to include the lay ones as well”.
