The deadline for completing the transition to the new organizational structure of the Land Registry is extended by an additional 1 year, as the abolition of the 392 Mortgage Registries and the establishment of the 92 Land Registry Offices and Branches is still ongoing
With this provision extended by an additional 1 year the deadline for completing the transition to the new organizational structure of the Land Registry, from 17th/01/2023 to 17th/01/2024, as the abolition of the 392 Mortgage Registries and establishment of the 92 Land Registry Offices and Branches is still ongoing, having effectively started the last 3 years.
It is recalled that the originally foreseen deadline of Law 4512/2018 was 17/01/2020, which had already been extended until 17/01/2023, as since the passing of Law 4512/2018, which established the transition to the new structure, and in fact while the land registration of the country was – and still is – in progress, until August 2019, over a period of 2 years, only 2 of the 392 Mortgage Offices had been abolished and 2 of the 92 Land Registry Offices and Branches had been established.
On the contrary, from August 2019 to date, over a period of 3 years, a total of 60 Offices and Branches have been established, i.e. 2/3, and indeed, under the regime of the restrictions of the COVID 2019 pandemic. Therefore, the extension for 1 additional year , is considered a necessary and sufficient condition for the completion of the transition.
