The seizures were made by the control mechanisms in Tavros and Aspropyrgos
The auditors of the Directorate of Agricultural and Veterinary Policy of the Attica Region proceeded to seize three tons of products of animal origin due to unsuitability, as part of the intensive controls they carry out in the market ahead of the festive season.
In particular, they were confiscated on Monday, 12/19, 600 kilos of frozen minced meat in Aspropyrgos and on Tuesday, 20/12, 2,403 kg of products of animal origin in Taurus. The products were in a freezer compartment and checks at these points continue with the possibility of their quantity increasing. Reasons for the seizure were exceeding the shelf life limit, lack of suitability marks and keeping fresh products in a freezer.
The governor of Attica, Giorgos Patoulis, after being informed, emphasized: “Our mission is to ensure the orderly operation of the market, compliance with the legislative framework and the protection of public health. We will not allow anyone to endanger the lives of citizens. Such phenomena need to be dealt with immediately, as otherwise they affect the credibility of the market, which for the most part works exemplary”.
It is noted that checks are carried out in all kinds of places that show consumer traffic during the holiday season: Catering/leisure, health care stores, gas stations, commercial/seasonal stores and food and beverage areas in general.
