In a statement, the Management and staff of the National Opera express their condolences to the relatives of the two deceased and their deep emotion for their deaths.

Giorgos Stafetas – Passed away on December 25, 2022
He was born in 1940 in Athens and studied classical singing and theater. He was a professor of classical and art song, melodramatic art and speech education, while he had published poetry collections.
He collaborated with the National Opera for almost forty consecutive years.
In 1966, he joined the ELLS Choir, while from 1971 to the mid-2000s he appeared in more than sixty productionsperforming a wide range of roles in popular operas and operettas such as Constantine Palaiologos, The Coronation of Poppaia, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Bohème, Adriane Lecouvre, The Magic Flute, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Girl of the West, Gianni Scicchi, Manon Lescaut, Othello, Don Quixote, The Fire, Conroy and His Copies, The Barber of Seville, Falstaff, The Baptist, The Apaches of Athens, The House of the Three Maidens, The Bat, The Merry Widow and The Land of Laughter.
Andreas Rodousakis – Passed away on December 28, 2022
He was born in 1932 and was an accomplished member of the National Opera Orchestra. He studied double bass with Mario Semitekolos, Principal A in the National Opera Orchestra and Principal B in the State Orchestra of Athens, while from 1951 to 1955 he studied at the Mikro Polytechnic.
In December 1957, he became a member of the ELLS Orchestra, with which he performed for the first time in January 1958 in Aida, in the historic first opera presented at the new Olympia Theater on Akadimias Street. In the same year he became a member of the State Orchestra of Athens.
As a musician he upgraded the role and technique of the double bass, gave individual recitals, participated in dozens of concerts and historic recordings. He was one of Manus’s closest collaborators Hadjidaki. In addition, he collaborated with the most important Greek composers such as Mikis TheodorakisJohn MarkopoulosSouth MavroudiStavros Old manMimi CrowdDionysus Savvopoulos.
He played “new wave”, while he also collaborated with composers of the modern musical avant-garde such as Thodoros Antoniou, Yiannis Christou, Stefanos Vassiliadis, Michalis Adamis.
A thoughtful, active, active musician, he was for many years the president of the Association of Musicians and Employees of the KOA and Secretary of the Performing Musicians’ Association of the Hellenic Republic of Greece. He was a member of the Board of Directors. of ELS and special collaborator of the Artistic Director of ELS Loukas Karytinos (with the duties of deputy director) for the period 1999-2006.
