Greece’s population is shrinking: Almost 200,000 fewer in 2021 than in 2011 – Analytical tables

The legal population of the country amounts to 9,716,889 people, according to the results obtained from the 2021 population-residential census, conducted by ELSTAT.

The detailed data of the Statistical Authority by regional unit, municipality and municipal unit, will be published in the Official Gazette, and at the same time, they were sent to the Minister of the Interior, Makis Voridis, in order to determine the new allocation of seats for the parliamentary elections in January.

The census figures are extremely worrying for our country, as in the last 10 years, the population has decreased by almost 200,000 people, as in 2011, the census had given 9,904,286 inhabitants.
