Opinion – Full Glass: Gift tips from R$ 18 to R$ 199 to please the brewers this Christmas

by

If you want to please a friend who is a fan of beer, but is lost in the face of so many offers, your problems are over (or not).

Below, tips that can appeal to the beginner brewer to the geek friend (the one annoying that gives you a lesson with each toast). The suggestions are for all budgets, from a tasty and light Pilsen from Tank Brewpub (for R$18) to a very special Dádiva kit, with recipes and instructions for harmonizing (for R$199).

There are also options inspired by Panettone, to make up the Christmas dinner, or those that you can keep waiting for the New Year’s toast. Check it out:

Christmas draft beer 1 – Colorado

Panettone was the inspiration for some master brewers this end of year. In Colorado, the launch is Ho Ho Ho, with the “controversial” raisin as the main ingredient. Red ale with 6.2% alcohol is available at all Bar do Urso units throughout the city. A custom crowler with 710 ml costs R$ 24.

Christmas draft beer 2 – National Brewery

The artisanal brewery, which turned 10 in 2021, added to the traditional Sa’si (stout), creating the seasonal Sa’si Noel, inspired by… Panettone, of course. With a dark color, common in stouts, and medium body, it brings notes of raisin and vanilla, distributed in 5% of alcohol content. The liter costs R$ 51.70.

Christmas draft beer 3 – Soma Brewery

The brewpub in Moema went further and added pieces of panettone to its creation, the DubbelTone, a slightly cloudy, amber-colored Belgian dubbel, with 6.2% alcohol and only 20 IBU (bitter scale that goes up to 120). The beer is already engaged and was made in limited quantities. It’s a good idea to check if you still have it before leaving the house.

Cuvée Trail & Vivente

A very special beer to toast the end of the year, best suited as a gift to those who are already new to the subject. There are three versions of the Trail, made in partnership with the Vivente winery: a gose with mango, a sour with pomegranate and a Saison Barrel Aged, all mixed with Sauvignon Blanc wine. The 750 ml corked bottles cost R$ 135 each. If you want to try it beforehand, they are hooked up to the taproom of the brewery, in Perdizes.

Cuvée of the Nation

Made to celebrate its tenth anniversary, Clube do Malte launches this bière brut made with the champenoise method, the same as champagne, therefore, ideal for toasting the New Year with lots of bubbles. The beer spent 12 months aging in a winery and arrives in an elegant 750 ml bottle, for R$ 99.90.

Christmas Kit – Gift

For brewers with aspirations of homemade masterchef, this is the ideal gift: a kit with a selection of seven Dádiva beers, from Várzea Paulista (SP), chosen by sommelierès Fernanda Meybom and Daiane Colla. In addition to the beers, the package includes a booklet with pie recipes, and labels to match. It even brings a nice cup. Among the beers are Black Mist (an imperial stout coffee), Yellow Tart (berliner weisse with peach, mango and pineapple) and Old But Gold (a west coast double IPA). The complete kit costs R$199 and is available at the brewery’s online store.

Growlers or cans

If you go to the Tank Brewpub (r. Amaro Cavalheiro, 45, Pinheiros), you are sure to find a good gift. In addition to the good beer, which is always fresh, the cans have a beautiful design and cute titles, such as the pilsen Take Your Pils, (R$ 18) or the small lager Não Me Lager. There are also glass growlers (that bottle, ideal for taking home beer), for R$29 (empty), glasses, glasses and other accessories.
