The journalist died this morning at the age of 48, after a hard battle with cancer Fotis Kontopoulos.
According to an announcement by ESIEA, Fotis Kontopoulos was born in 1975 in Athens. After completing his high school studies, he studied journalism at IEK “Athenian Institute of Journalism”. From July 1995, he worked non-stop, until today, at the newspaper “Rizospastis”. Initially he served the educational reporting and then the freelance and the financial.
The board of directors of ESIEA expressing its sadness at the death of Fotis Kontopoulos, points out in its announcement that the deceased “was distinguished for his morals, his journalistic criteria, his wider knowledge and abilities”.
“He had excellent professional relationships and always adhered to the ethical principles of the profession. He still had a lot to offer, but, unfortunately, his illness took a different fate and deprived him so prematurely of his family, friends and colleagues,” the statement of the Union states and concludes by saying: “ESIEA’s Board of Directors expresses its condolences to his wife Eleni Tzivras, their two minor children and his relatives”.
