With the autopsies of the engineers in the school buildings of the municipality continuing, by the decision of the mayor of Western Lesvos Taxiarchis Verros, the Primary and Secondary Education schools of the municipality will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 11. It should be noted that cracks from today’s earthquake appeared in the internal masonry of the Sykamnia village school.
Due to the landslides in the Lepetymnos massif, for precautionary reasons, the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Western Lesbos recommends to the citizens to avoid, at least for the next few hours, unnecessary road movements, mainly in the network of Lepetymnos, Argenos, Skamias, Pelopi . Although no serious damage has been recorded so far, the seismic activity combined with the impending heavy rains are likely to cause landslides in the road network. It should be noted that landslides have been detected and the phenomenon became more intense today, in various parts of the Lepetymnos massif.
