At dawn on Tuesday, December 21, the respected lawyer Nikolaos Minis ended up with a heart attack, after an epidural brain hematoma he suffered and a six-month stay in the hospital.
Nikolaos Minis was born in 1946, in Prodromi, Thesprotia. A child of bio-struggle, far from his father who worked in the Belgian coal mines to provide for the family, he successfully studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, creating strong ties, close contacts and friends in the city of Thessaloniki.
During the dictatorship, due to his studies and physical qualifications, he was placed, without his will, in the EAT ESA.
There, his anti-dictatorship action takes on flesh and blood despite the daily danger of his life. He himself was tortured, yet he helped and rescued hundreds of those tortured to death, as evidenced by the testimonies of themselves and members of the association of prisoners and exiles.
After the fall of the junta in the special court, he was one of the few who dared to name the torturers and confirmed their inhumane practices despite all the threats and assassination attempts that were made against him.
His action and biography, as a distinguished lawyer, rich. An advocate of martial law, he was a lawyer for the provincial press association. At the same time, his involvement and involvement with the field of sports was rich.
As a member of ESCAN (National Anti-Doping Council) he was awarded for his multidimensional action. At the same time, he was a sports judge of EPAE and a lawyer of P.E.K under G. Lyssaridis. He was the legal representative of the Coaches’ Union, the legal advisor of EPAE and the representative of the footballers.
But above all, Nikolaos Minis was distinguished for his sensitivity, his humanity and his contribution to his fellow man. One of the last romantics … A true supporter of democracy, freedom of speech and altruism. His example, memory and soul continued and will continue to exist through the dozens of lives of the people he saved.
The funeral service will be held on Friday 24/12 at 12pm. in the church of Agios Georgios Kareas
