In a few days, the ID will be available in the Covid free wallet of mobile phones, where some of their data will be stored in order to make it easier to control vaccination certificates, as stated by the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, Theodoros Libanios.
“We have all noticed that when we go to a store according to the measures that exist against the spread of the coronavirus together with the certificate that we have on our mobile phone or in paper form, they ask us for the identity in order to find out that the name coincides with the person “, who wants to enter a store”, he stated characteristically.
He stressed that in a few days it will be available to store some identity data in the Wallet, on the mobile phone so that the identity is not searched.
Mr. Livanios added that it will be in digital form so that the citizen carries fewer papers with him, while he stressed that it will only concern the presentation of the identity and the shopkeeper will not have access to the verification or its data.
According to information from skai.gr, citizens will enter the platform, fill in the Taxisnet codes and the OTP (One Time Password) that will be sent to their mobile phone and will automatically be shown certain details of their identity. Specifically, the first digital form of the ID will state the name, surname, date of birth, and the photo of the ID.
The goal of the Ministry of Digital Governance is for the new service to be available within the next week and in any case before the New Year, while it is the first step for the full digitization of the identity, which will follow in the coming months.
