Trial of Petrou Filippidis: Today the prosecutor’s proposal for what is attributed to the actor

Today, the public prosecutor will present to the three regular judges and the four juries her verdict on the actor after the exhaustive process that has preceded the previous period.

The judgment of the Prosecutor of the Joint Jury Court will be heard today by the actor and band leader Petros Filippidis who has been on trial for ten months for acts of sexual violence against three of his colleagues.

Known to the general public for his performances in comic roles accused after a marathon apology that he gave before the judges on Monday, today there will be one more step before the end of the process that will be sealed with the verdict of the court on whether he is or not guilty of what the three actors who brought him to justice accused him of.

The trial began last March with the actor moving from prison to the bench, as in July 2021 he had been temporarily detained for the case, which involves rape, but also two attempted rapes. In the course of the trial, it was the MOD that last July unanimously decided that Thiasarchis can be released from prison and imposed restrictive conditions on him.

In her proposal for the actor’s release from prison, the Prosecutor had stated that she does not consider that the defendant, for one continuous rape and two attempted rapes against three of his colleagues, remains dangerous for committing new crimes. She had even justified this point of view, pointing out that the trouper “is unwelcome in his place of action, i.e. in theaters” and furthermore that now his associates are informed of what is being attributed to him and are therefore in a position to protect themselves.

According to the case file filed against him, the actor allegedly raped a colleague in 2008, an act that happened twice, as well as attempted to rape two other actresses, in 2010 and 2014. In two of the cases the actions were carried out in his dressing room, where his colleagues were there for business reasons, while in the third case he is accused of trying to rape a colleague in his car, after a business meeting he had with the unemployed woman at the time, Pathousa.

The judicial authorities accuse the famous artist of a “long period of action” which they specify from 2008 to 2014, during which “it is alleged that, taking advantage of the position of the director – cult leader and exercising power, he proceeded with acts against sexual dignity at the expense of of his victims”.

Today, the Public Prosecutor’s Office will present its verdict on the actor to the three regular judges and the four jurors after the exhaustive process that has preceded the previous period.

With the “guilty” or “innocent” of the Prosecutor, which has a special weight for the court without binding it to its decision, the countdown will begin for the decision of the judges who will judge the “next day” of the artist.

Petros Filippidis himself apologizing, in a particularly charged atmosphere, angrily declared to the judges that the space of the theater and the actors “is over for me”, while with bitterness and anger he said that “neither do I want to see them again, nor do I want to pass”. Filippidis, in the midst of many of his colleagues who were in court in support of the alleged victims, declared his innocence, declared that he was “full of love and praise”, while he said that the whole case against him concerns the accusation of certain colleagues that he did not give them roles and they wanted to “take me out of the theater…so that others can take the reins”.

This morning the Public Prosecutor will state with her proposal whether the allegations of the accused have convinced her of his innocence or whether her judgment is weighed down by other facts, statements and above all what the women who stood with greater or lesser difficulty in front of the court and spoke for those who complain. Two of them testified with the doors of the court closed, not wanting to speak publicly.
