Unpleasant surprise for the people of the church in Community of Pournari of the Municipality of Domokoswhen they found that the bell was missing from the holy church of Panagia at Domokos Railway Station, which belongs to their parish, writes the lamiareport.gr.
The theft was noticed a day before the big Christmas holiday, but was only reported this week and the perpetrators are being sought.
Recently, many thefts have been reported in the area involving metal agricultural components and everyone’s thoughts go to specific people who are involved in… the trafficking of such materials which they sell to recycling companies.
The specific incident with the desecration of a religious place will be recorded in the Report of the competent Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs with Incidents to the detriment of places of religious importance for the 2022.
The corresponding report of 2021, unfortunately includes 378 such incidents, of which 370 at the expense of Orthodox Church premises. Of these, 12 were recorded in Fthiotida and most in sacred sites in the regions of Lamia and Domokos.
