The 25 most popular entries of the Greek Wikipedia for 2022

In 2022, for another year, its readability Greek edition of the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, of Wikipedia, has seen an upward trend. Last year the entry with the most visits was due to the war in Ukraine, which even exceeded the 700,000 views, which constitutes an all-time record.

In second place was the entry about Greece, which has a consistently high readership, while in third place was the entry about Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, which always had many visits but these jumped after her death on September 8. Other current affairs items that saw a spike in readership were those about NATO (#4), European Union (#8), Russia (#11), Vladimir Putin (#16) and Volodymyr Zelensky (#19).

The entries FIFA World Cup (#5) and FIFA World Cup 2022 (#6) had high and steady traffic from November until mid-December during the games in Qatar. The entry ‘Saint Paisios’ at position #7 had a high readership during the TV series airing of his life, increasing weekly each time a new episode aired. Likewise for the entries George Papandreou (#9) and Kyveli (actor) (#14), for whose relationship there was also a TV series and the readability of the entries increased each time a new episode was aired.

The spike in traffic for the entry for European Parliament Vice-President Eva Kaili (#10) is due to her arrest, while the rise of the entry Line 3 (Athens Metro) (#15) is related to the extension of the line in October.
