Most of the violations confirmed concern illegal parking and speeding

In 99,358 traffic checks carried out between January 15 and 21, 2023, throughout Greece, 22,584 violations were confirmed, according to the data of the Ministry of Citizen Protection. It is noted that 443 were for driving while intoxicated.

More specifically, the violations confirmed by region are as follows: 4,150 in Attica, 3,637 in Thessaloniki, 2,643 in Thessaly, 2,153 in Western Greece, 1,859 in Crete, 1,680 in Central Macedonia, 1,359 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, 1,353 in Peloponnese, 1,077 in Central Greece, 944 in Epirus, 605 in the Ionian Islands, 527 in Western Macedonia, 355 in the North Aegean and 242 in the South Aegean.

The infringements confirmed concern: 7,127 for illegal parking, 4,658 for excessive speed, 1,264 for driving without a driver’s license, 975 for not using a seat belt, 651 for not using a protective helmet, 583 for K.T.E.O, 443 for driving while intoxicated, 369 for using a mobile phone, 329 for uninsured vehicles, 279 for violating a traffic light, 223 for moving in the opposite direction of traffic, 157 for noise, 148 for abnormal maneuvers, 115 for not keeping a safe distance, 100 for worn tires . load, 9 for lack of seat belt, 6 for not driving on the right side of the road, 1 for driving on the left lane and 4,810 other violations.

At the same time, specialized controls of the Attica Traffic Directorate were carried out throughout the week of January 16 to 22, 2023, on the coastal avenue of Athens – Souni, with the aim of dealing with improvised races, as well as other dangerous violations. In total, 444 drivers and vehicles were checked, while 231 violations were confirmed, for which the corresponding fines were imposed.

In detail, the violations confirmed were: 121 for excessive speed, 7 for revocation of a driver’s license, 4 for not wearing a helmet, 2 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 2 for violating a red light and 95 for other violations.

Also, 41 pairs of license plates, 7 driving licenses and 54 driving licenses were taken away, while 4 vehicles were taken.

As the Ministry of Citizen Protection points out, the controls will continue with the same intensity.
