Traffic fees by month: The measure is effective from April

Earlier than in previous years, the measure “monthly traffic fees” is to be implemented this year, in order to facilitate approximately 120,000 car owners. that they put, but also those who put their vehicles at a standstill until the end of February. Finance ministry officials, bearing in mind that elections will be held in April or May and that some people will need to travel to vote, are speeding up the implementation of the measure, planning to open the online platform in early April.

According to information, the relevant legislative provision – which will again this year give the possibility to the owners of I.X. to pay proportional fees only for the time they are in circulation and not for the entire year – is being prepared, in order to be forwarded in time for a vote.

The measure provides that if someone re-registers their vehicle for one month they will pay 1/12 of the registration fees, for two months on 2/12, for 3 months on 3/12 for 4 months on 4/12 and so on.

For example:

– Owner with a car of 2,000 cubic centimeters registered until December 31, 2020 the total cost of registration fees amounts to 615 euros. If the specific person carries out immobility removal for 5 months he will pay 256.25 euros and for 7 months he will pay 358.75 euros.

– A car owner with an annual registration fee of 300 euros who wishes to immobilize his vehicle for a period of three months will pay fees corresponding to 3/12, i.e. 75 euros.

– A car owner with annual fees of 500 euros who wants to put it back into circulation for a period of three months will have to pay 41.6 euros for each month and a total of 125 euros.

In the event that, for example, a driver pays for two months of traffic fees, he should know that he can choose any period of time he wishes, in order to remove immobility.

But part of a month, even one day, counts as a whole month. The right to remove immobility is granted only once within the year, while when the period of movement for which proportional traffic fees have been paid expires, the vehicle must be immediately put into digital immobility.

Those who want to go digital will have to visit the Independent Inland Revenue Authority’s MyCAR platform to pay road tax pro rata for the time they want to drive their car or two-wheeler.

In particular, he should enter with the Taxisnet codes, on the MyCAR platform of AADE, select the vehicle that is in digital immobility and pay the current year’s traffic fees. However, before restarting the vehicle, there will be an online check to see if it is insured on the date and time of filling in the relevant application and then the request will be submitted.

Those who have filed their vehicle plates with the tax office should contact the competent D.O.Y. in order to submit the lift request and collect their plates as a digital immobilization only takes place when the vehicle is digitally immobilized.

In the event that there are co-owners in a vehicle, for the immobility to be lifted, all co-owners who are informed through personalized information or by e-mail if it has been declared must agree, and if they agree they must approve the request.
