Reporting: Makis Synodinos
Rally in the Constitution, artists are currently carrying out with the main request the withdrawal of Presidential Decree 85/2022 and the subordination of all artists to the salary grade TE.
The streets around the square have been overloaded with traffic, while Vasilissis Amalias in front of the Parliament was closed. The rest of the specific avenue is congested, as well as the rise of Kallirrois avenue and the two streams of Ardittos.
Artists argue that the presidential decree leads to degradation of their degrees and studies, while today and yesterday dozens of theaters remained closed.
Musicians also participate in the gathering
Dozens of artists are participating in the protest.
The actor Nikos Karagiorgis made statements talking about the requests of the artists.
Students of acting schools, the union of Greek directors, students of art schools and the union of public museum workers are also participating in the protest.
In a statement they issued, they state:
Colleagues, Colleagues,
In the barren environment created by the Government for the satisfaction of our demands, we vigorously continue our mobilizations.
We already know how 50 theaters in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larissa and Patras (and thus almost double the number of performances hosted there) participate in the strike, while in the audiovisual sector 15 series filming will stop for two days.
Since yesterday, all drama school teachers have been participating in the strike following the participation announced yesterday by the Association of Higher Private Schools”.
