The controls of ELAS during the festive period for the protection measures against the coronavirus are sweeping. As the representative of ELAS Anna Efthimiou pointed out to SKAI, in the three days of December 24, 25 and 26, 1,691 violations were ascertained, 20 arrests were made and 29 suspensions of store licenses were made.
Most of the interventions concerned the non-use of a mask and some in the control of certificates (entry without certificates or with certificates of another), while there were cases of violation of the already imposed suspension of operation.
In this case, Ms. Efthymiou reminded, the fine is increased, it is 25,000 euros, extension of the suspension for another 15 days and another 5,000 euros to the person who is responsible for the operation of the store. With a third violation, the operation is suspended for 60 days and the operating license of the store is temporarily removed, added the representative of ELAS.
“The controls are continuous from the first moment of implementation of the measures, we adjust our design each time according to the measures. “We have also emphasized the mandatory use of a mask outdoors,” said the ELAS representative.
The police focus on entertainment centers, restaurants and streets where there is congestion. “The degree of compliance is quite high, those businessmen and citizens who do not discipline are subject to the prescribed fines and administrative sanctions,” he stressed.
