Thessaloniki: The trial for the murder of Alkis Kampanos continues today

A few days after the completion of one year since the murder of Alkis Kampanos and after a week’s rest, the trial of the 12 defendants for the murderous attack against the 19-year-old student, in the area of ​​Harilaou, continues today in the Hall of the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki.

During today’s 5th session of the court, Alki’s friends who were present at the “blind” fan attack on February 1, 2022 are expected to testify as witnesses.

So far, four of the indictment’s total of 26 witnesses have been examined and among those who testified are the 19-year-old’s parents and sister, as well as his close friend, an eyewitness and victim of the bloody episode himself.

The latter, during his long-hour examination, which ended the previous session, referring to the perpetrators said that “they were as cold as murderers”. “They came to kill, quietly do what they did and leave […] They came with scythes, sticks, and knives […] I froze when I saw the scythe […] They only stopped when some people came upstairs, otherwise I would have been dead too,” said the witness, among other things.
