What the well-known seismologist said about the case of a major earthquake in Greece
Dramatic are the predictions for the dead from the earthquake in Turkey – Syria according to the seismologist Akis Tselentis who estimated that in total they will reach 150,000 people.
Speaking on the show “Today” on SKAI, Mr. Tselentis appeared cautious regarding the estimates of an earthquake of a size similar to that of Turkey, noting that “I cannot drop a “bomb” as the risk is there but not to the same extent.”
THE seismologistexplained that in Greece there are no major faults on land but only in the underwater area.
He expressed concern about the public buildings which, as he said, have only been inspected in 25%, while regarding the schools, he blamed the municipalities, who, as he said, should themselves pass inspections of the buildings and not throw the “ball” to the OASP.
In conclusion, Mr. Tselentis reiterated that the earthquake in Turkey does not affect the Greek area. “If it had been noted on the fault in northern Anatolia, I would have been worried,” he pointed out.
