School teachers are going on a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, February 15, participating in the general education strike declared by the Federation of Secondary Education Officers (OLME) and the IOE, reacting to the individual assessment.

OLME’s announcement in detail:

The Board of Directors of OLME following the decision taken by the General Assembly of Presidents of ELME on 11/2/2023 against the anti-educational plans of the government, announces the following steps to organize the match, specifically:

An out-of-court notification of the strike-abstention will be immediately submitted to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Presidency of the Government and the Greek State, thus officially declaring its declaration.
In this context, he calls on colleagues to participate dynamically and en masse in the OLME strike-abstention preventing the implementation of the reactive evaluation.
– Calls on all fellow teachers – members of the teachers’ unions and every colleague involved in any way in the evaluation process (“evaluators” and “evaluators”) to declare their participation in the OLME abstention strike.

– This statement will be made on a special form that will be filed collectively by the colleagues (sent to you as attachments), to make clear their participation in the boycott strike. The above statement shields the colleagues with the coverage offered by participating in a legally protected and legal action and it is enough to be recorded in the school protocol.

– The ELMEs contact the Teachers’ Associations, who inform about their participation in the strike-abstention.

We remind you that the abstention of teachers from specific duties is provided for by the provisions of Law 1264/1982, as they have been interpreted by the competent Courts (all indicative D.Ef. 486/1995 et seq.) and constitutes an absolutely legal, constitutionally protected form of trade union action, recognized as a form of strike which covers the participants from any disciplinary liability.
