A Greece to drink in a glass… literally. And this, because it is being practiced in our country beer tourism, with the establishment of the Visitable Brewery Mark and in the next period it is expected that the first breweries in the country will be certified that can be transformed into places to be visited.

In a press conference held today, Wednesday, the Hellenic Brewers Association and the Ministry of Tourism announced the establishment of the Visitable Brewery Label.

The proposal of the Hellenic Union of Brewers aimed to connect the Greek beer production with that of hospitality, through an organized institutional framework. The inclusion of beer tourism in the national actions to promote the tourist product, will increase the visitation and extroversion of the breweries, while at the same time it will highlight the culture of beer in our country, as it was emphasized.

In her intervention, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Sofia Zaharaki, pointed out that after many months of work and our substantial support from industry professionals, the Ministry of Tourism designed and is now able to present the first Visitable Brewery Label. As he explained, the goal remains the responsible development of the Greek tourism product, in terms of sustainability, and its further differentiation through the promotion of special forms of tourism and the creation of new, complex tourist packages, with an emphasis on the quality and intensity of the experience offered.

For his part, the President of the Hellenic Union of Brewers, Sofocles Panagiotou, stated that already the breweries they receive a lot of requests, both from individuals and from organized agencies and companies in the tourism sector, for visits to the production sites, as well as for tasting tests of their products. The Brewery to Visit Badge is coming to give more breweries across the country a boost to become visitor attractions by highlighting their products and facilities, he said.

This new Sign comes to creatively marry the world of domestic beer as a whole, from the raw materials, their processing in the brewing facilities and the production of Greek beer, with that of hospitality. In this way, we come in practice to strengthen Greek businesses, encouraging them to search for new development paths, pointed out Mrs. Zacharaki.
