Moses Elisaf was for many years a member of the Board of Directors of the Central Israeli Council. For two years he was secretary general of the Board of Directors, while for 2 decades, he was president of the Israeli Community of Ioannina.
Immediately after his election as mayor of Ioannina, in June 2019, the KISE, in a statement, stated, among other things:
“For Greek Jewry, the success of Moses Elisaf marks a milestone in the history of the Jewish presence, both in the city of Ioannina and in Greece, since for the first time a Greek of the Jewish faith is elected mayor. A success that causes admiration, but also emotion.”

His death constitutes a huge loss for the city of Ioannina, which he served as a doctor, as a university teacher, but also as mayor from 2019, without however having time to complete his term, but also to claim one more, as was his wish, to see his work to be completed. The Romanian Jewish community of Ioannina is losing a prominent member, who for a number of years was its president, highlighting its historical journey to the ends of the earth.
