Technical consultant is going to be appointed by the mother of the child who suddenly passed away at the “Agios Stylianos” municipal nursery last Friday.

This was announced by her lawyer, Mrs. Efi Orfanidou, who stated that “today we are going to file a statement in support of the charge against everyone responsible. We do not know who is responsible for the tragic end of the child, but all this will be investigated in depth.”

In addition, she clarified that: “we will appoint a technical advisor to be close to the investigation procedures. We have already requested the medical file of the little girl from Agios Stylianos and from Hippocrates, in order to investigate the circumstances of her death.”

The unanswered questions

“We are generally concerned with the attitude of the hospital, which is why a thorough investigation will be carried out, in order to establish whether the necessary tests were carried out on the child, what his clinical picture was when he was discharged and whether his condition was correctly assessed. All these will be answered by imedical file of the hospital and it will be established if there are any responsibilities – which will be assigned,” he added.

Regarding the institution, the lawyer stated that the mother was not informed about the child’s health status, until Friday morning, when the child had already passed away.

“The child looked very well and the mother was not informed that he had been taken to the hospital a day before. The fact that he did not have custody of the little girl is irrelevant. He had been fighting for custody for a year and in fact the institution had agreed to assign custody to the mother.

Finally, Mrs. Orfanidou emphasized that apart from the forensic examination that was carried out on the child on Friday, which did not provide answers. “Light” on the exact causes of her death is expected to be given by the findings of toxicological, histological and microbiological testswhich may take three to six months to come out.
