The shops in Varvakeio Agora and Consumer Market in Rentis will be traditionally open from tonight until early tomorrow afternoon in order to provide consumers with Lenten food.

In the meantime, public markets will also operate normally, tomorrow, Clean Monday, while as the general secretariat of Trade and Consumer Protection has clarified in its announcement, food stores (grocery stores, fishmongers, etc.) will operate normally on Clean Monday

“We are holding down the prices throughout Greece so that all Greeks buy at the same prices or even more reduced than last year for the Lenten table” said the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis during his visit to Varvakeio Agora yesterday.

He added that the traffic on Thursday, Friday and Saturday was increased to 100% and added “we hold the prices throughout Greece so that all Greeks buy at the same prices or even more reduced than last year for Lent table” and added: “We managed to keep the prices below last year and that’s the message.”

Among other things, Mr. Georgiadis said that “our problem is not profiteering, but inflation from Putin’s war.”

Regarding the price of lagana, the minister has stated that “the price of lagana ranges from 2.80-3.30 euros. To be fair, it makes sense for it to have a slight increase due to the increase in flours. If consumers go on Monday and find the lagana for 4.5 euros or more, they should file a complaint at 1520 and immediately send the DIMEA (Interagency Market Control Unit) and they will impose a fine. We are talking about the traditional lagana”, he added.

It is reminded that the shops in Varvakeio will be open from 21:00 this evening until midday on Clean Monday.

Correspondingly, from today until tomorrow afternoon, the shops in the Consumer Market in Rentis are also open.

On the website of the Central Markets and Fisheries Organization (OKAA) there is posted the detailed operating schedule of each store.
